Is Dry January for You? Drinking in Moderation and/or Resetting in 2025

ALKAA aims to foster a culture of responsible drinking for those choosing to drink. This blog post was originally an email newsletter that garnered a lot of responses. Clearly this is a topic worth discussing. Here is the email as sent in it's entirety:
As a company connected to alcohol, I've been thinking about how to approach this email for a while. Here is where I have landed...
Dry January can be great for reflection and health, but let’s talk about something radical: what if moderation made resets… unnecessary?
At ALKAA, we’re all about fostering a culture of balance—enjoying that perfectly chilled glass of wine or craft cocktail without overindulging.
Drinking in moderation means setting boundaries and sticking to them.
It means savoring the moment without the morning-after regret. It also means having the freedom to say no without feeling like you’re missing out.
We’re not participating in Dry January ourselves, but we wholeheartedly support anyone who is.
Whether you’re taking a break for clarity, health, or just curiosity, it could be meaningful step in understanding your relationship with alcohol.
That said, we believe that if you’re drinking responsibly and mindfully, there’s no need for guilt.
Moderation allows you to enjoy your favorite drinks without the weight of shame that so often comes with drinking.
A question we get a lot is whether ALKAA prevents someone from getting drunk or lets them drink as much as they want. The short answer? No.
ALKAA doesn’t change the ethanol content in your drink, which means it doesn’t alter your blood alcohol concentration.
While it helps reduce toxins that cause hangover symptoms and alcohol intolerance, it won’t save you from the effects of overdrinking.
Drinking too much, too fast, can still lead to ethanol poisoning and other risks.
That’s why moderation is key—our sachets are here to help you feel your best within those boundaries, not push past them.
If you feel like you have to drink or are relying on alcohol more than you’d like, taking a break might be exactly what you need.
A pause can be clarifying, offering insights into habits you didn’t even know were there. And that’s not just healthy—it’s empowering.
So whether you’re diving into Dry January, sticking with your moderation mindset, or somewhere in between, we’re here to cheer you on.
Because enjoying life—responsibly, authentically—is what it’s all about.
